Empowering Grandparents Workshop

Offerings is gathering six to eight grandparent families who are interested in exploring a range of topics associated with becoming a grandparent of a child with autism.

Topics will include 1)what families go through when they are told their grandchild has autism, 2) roles grandparents can play, 3) positive strategies for interacting with their grandchildren, 4) understanding the challenges their grandchild faces (communication, sensory, social and learning differences) and 5) getting to know resources and supports available.

This first seminar is free to the grandparents. Grandparents will be asked to complete a short, simple, pre-seminar survey and then a seminar evaluation at the end day. Morning snack and boxed lunch will be provided.
